Jopen Tulpomania – Luyks beer, 5,5% – 33cl
Luyks beer is an amber colored beer according to a 17th century recipe. Luyks beer was very popular in 17th-century Holland. Luyks beer was brewed with at least 50% speltmalt, complemented with wheat and barleymalt. It was more heavily hopped than other beers of the time and probably amber colored. Thanks to the high quality of the beer and the long durability it was transported on VOC and WIC ships towards Batavia (Indonesia), the colonies at the Cape (South-Africa) and Suriname (SouthernAmerica). This style was also brewed in Haarlem until well into the 19th century.
