Jopen Extra Stout has a roasted bitter taste from the roasted barley malt. Dry stout is also known as the espresso of beers because of its roasted bitter flavor, similar to that of coffee and cocoa. It creates an extraordinary flavor sensation.
Extra Stout was a very common style in the Netherlands during the late 1800’s – early 1900’s. The Dutch Stout contained more alcohol than other Stout beers
( between 5%- and 6%) and was drier in taste. The last breweries active in Haarlem in the early 1900’s all still brewed Dutch Dry Stouts.
The Extra Stout was once launched as Jubeljoop II.
